Unix is a state of mind...
I love the Unix command shell. OK, now I use the tcsh on my Mac OS X machine,
and also the bash shell from my Suse Linux machine, and also the terminal
on my Sharp Zaurus Linux PDA.
Linux is bigger than software, Unix is bigger than Linux, and open source
is bigger than Unix.
Some may give me grief over my Mac, but listen: I know that open soruce
is at the top of the food chain, and I know that, ethically, open source
is the only way to go; and I absolutely know that my future in computing
is on open source Linux-based machines.
But right now, I love the tcsh on my Mac. The very sight of a Unix shell
on so many devices, any device, makes me happy. The textual sensuality of
the Unix command line is soothing, stimulating, and exhilarating all at the
same time.
I'm comfortable with Unix. Unix is a community, a feeling, a state of mind.
Long live Unix, and long live the Unix state of mind..
