When you play 3-4-3 you tend to apply pressure on those flanks. However, the 4-2 formation's power is primarily derived from the center. The midfielders that are fast and aggressive are crucial to execute successful flanking maneuvers - but it can be a drain on the strength you're desperate to have for counter-attacks, so choose your tactics carefully.

With four defenders and two defensive midfielders, there is an excellent foundation to build up your game and compete well with opposing attacks. If you frequently face issues defensively, this's the best option.
