biography
Ronald Dean Stephens was born in 1952 in Cincinnati,
Ohio, the son of Kenneth and Wilma Stephens, who had moved to Ohio
from McCreary County, Kentucky, where their families had lived for many
generations in a deeply religious region of southeastern Kentucky.
He attended Depauw University in Greencastle, Indiana
from 1971-1975 and earned degrees in Physics and Mathematics, and later
did graduate work in business administration and operations research at
the University of Cincinnati.
In a twenty five year career in the electronics
components and subsystems business, he held a series of increasingly senior
technical and management positions, first in Cincinnati, then in the Kansas
City area, and most recently in Fairfield County, Connecticut.
Having retained a life long interest in religion,
philosophy, history, and the arts, he declared his belief as a Baha'i in
1996 and subsequently wrote this book. He has been married to Kathleen
Stephens for 24 years and is the father of four children. The family currently
lives in Newtown, Connecticut, where Ron is still employed in the electronics
industry.
